Four Things To Discuss With Your Commercial Moving Service

Blog

Planning to move to a new location can be complicated for a business, and you want to make sure everything goes smoothly. In order to get the best service possible, you'll want to be very detailed when discussing your move with your commercial moving service. Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning your move:

Conducting Business On Moving Day

Some businesses may have to conduct business on moving day, which can impact how your commercial moving service approaches the moving process. For example, if you need to have someone manning the phones at all times, the service may be able to set up one or two cubicles in your new location first, and then move the rest of your office after this initial step is taken. This means that you can have a seamless transition from one location to the other, and your customers or clients don't even have to know when the move is happening.

Special Handling Instructions

If your business has specialized equipment, fragile inventory, or other items that may be complicated to move, let the moving service know in advance. This will help to determine how many people are needed for moving day, and it can also give them time to plan how to pack and transport these items. In some cases, you may have certain materials that can't be moved, such as hazardous chemicals. If this is the case, your moving service can advise you on how to get these items moved safely.

Who Will Be In Charge

Consider appointing a staff member to manage the move. This person should be the one movers go to with questions, and he or she should know the plan of action for the day. Be sure that the moving service has the name of this point person, and consider having him or her present at any meetings or walk-through appointments you have with the moving company. This can help to ensure everyone is on the same page when moving day arrives.

It's also a good idea to come up with a list of questions to ask your commercial moving service. The more you understand the process, the estimate, and the company's practices, the easier it will be for you to help plan the move. Once you have answers to all of your questions, you will be ready to get started on planning your move. Contact a company like Bell Moving & Storage for more information and assistance.

Storage Units Are a Wonderful Thing

What do you do when you have belongings you don’t want to get rid of, but have no room for? Store them is what you do! My name is Marcy. I never thought having a storage unit would be something I’d be excited about, but I am. This may sound rather odd, but I actually enjoy puttering around in my storage unit. I like to go look at some of my old books, move things around, rearrange stuff, and even visit the people who work there. I was at a loss when I first made the decision to rent a storage unit for my “overflow” stuff. I didn't know anything about the unit sizes, how to pack things, or how to arrange them in the unit. The storage facility helped me with brochures and advice, they are wonderful. I’m going to share some of the tips I’ve learned with you.
