Having to pack up all of your stuff to move across the country can feel overwhelming at times. Here are some tips that will help with your packing as you get closer to your moving date.
Keep Clothing On The Hangers
Packing up a closet may seem like a lot of work if you envision having to take everything off its hanger so it can be folded and placed into a box. You can actually purchase speciality wardrobe boxes that allow you to keep all of the clothing on the hanger. Not only will it make packing up your closet a breeze, but it will make unpacking just as easy. You will be able to put your clothing back into your new closet in a matter of minutes, which is a process that would otherwise take hours if you needed to hang up each individual item again.
Label Boxes By Their Future Room
Many people make the mistake of labeling a box with what room it came from rather than the room it is going to go into at your next home. Chances are that your new home is bigger and has more places to store things. Plan ahead by deciding which room a box will go into. It's possible that you'll be moving things into your basement to be stored immediately, or placing living rooms into into a new den. Labeling by the new destination will help speed up the unpacking process for sure.
Pack Essentials In A Suitcase
Don't make the mistake of putting things away that you'll need on your moving day or right after moving in to your new place. It's a good idea to pack as if you are going for a trip with all your essentials the day before your move. Taking the items out of your suitcase and returning them when you are done will help ensure that you don't forget anything.
For example, you won't forget to take contact solution, medications, and other essential items if they are packed in a suitcase ready to go. A long distance move may take several days of traveling. You'll need those items ready to go in a suitcase rather than in the back of a moving truck that is impossible to get into.

What do you do when you have belongings you don’t want to get rid of, but have no room for? Store them is what you do! My name is Marcy. I never thought having a storage unit would be something I’d be excited about, but I am. This may sound rather odd, but I actually enjoy puttering around in my storage unit. I like to go look at some of my old books, move things around, rearrange stuff, and even visit the people who work there. I was at a loss when I first made the decision to rent a storage unit for my “overflow” stuff. I didn't know anything about the unit sizes, how to pack things, or how to arrange them in the unit. The storage facility helped me with brochures and advice, they are wonderful. I’m going to share some of the tips I’ve learned with you.
